The estimate meeting is your chance to find out who you are actually hiring. These are the questions we think every homeowner should ask before starting a patio paver project, including of us.
What base depth will you use, and will it be compacted in layers?
The answer tells you whether the patio will stay flat. Base depth should match the use, and compaction should happen in lifts, not one pass at the end. This is the difference between a surface and a foundation.
Who is doing the work?
Ask whether the crew works for the company or the job is brokered out. You want the people responsible for the warranty to be the people doing the work.
What happens to drainage?
A patio changes how water moves through a yard. The installer should be able to tell you where the water goes before a paver is laid, especially against the house and lanai.
Can I see the actual paver full size?
Small samples lie about color and scale. Insist on seeing the paver in a full-size display or borrowing a real sample. That is exactly why we run a walk-in showroom.
What is the warranty, in writing?
Get the workmanship warranty separate from the manufacturer warranty, and get both in writing. Ours is one year on workmanship.
What will the pattern look like on my patio?
