Retaining Walls & Seat Walls
We build retaining walls, seat walls and planter walls in Sarasota and Bradenton, with processes that keep them standing straight.
Why our walls stay straight
Nearly every leaning wall we are called to replace failed the same way: no compacted base, no drainage behind the wall, and no geogrid on the taller runs. We build the compacted footing, gravel backfill, drain line and geogrid first, then finish the visible part with wall systems. Some suppliers for our retaining walls include Belgard and Tremron, be sure to check them out.

Built for Florida soil
Retaining walls in Sarasota rarely fail because the block was weak. They fail because water had nowhere to go. Our walls start with an excavated, compacted base course below grade, gravel backfill and a drain path behind the wall, and geogrid reinforcement on taller runs, so the wall is still straight after a summer of daily downpours.
Seat walls and planter walls
Most of the walls we build aren’t holding back a hillside – they’re seat walls wrapping a fire pit, knee walls framing a patio, and planter walls that give a flat yard some shape. Built from the same block families as your pavers, they tie the whole hardscape together and double as extra seating whenever you have more guests than chairs.
Matching your hardscape
Wall block from Belgard, Tremron and the other brands we carry comes in blends that pair with specific paver lines. If we’re building the wall and the patio together, we’ll match them in the showroom first; if the pavers are already down, bring a photo and we’ll find the closest blend.
Retaining wall questions
If your question is not here, call us and we will answer it.
Why do retaining walls fail?
Water, almost always. Without gravel backfill and a drain line, the soil behind the wall saturates and pushes it over. No block is strong enough to fight that pressure, so drainage is standard on every wall we build.
Can a wall double as seating?
Yes. Seat walls at bench height, about 18 to 20 inches, work well around a patio or fire pit and give you permanent seating.
