Travertine Pool Decks & Patios in Sarasota
Travertine is the coolest surface we install and the one most requested for pool decks. We install, repair, and seal travertine across Sarasota, Bradenton, Lakewood Ranch and Venice, with full-size samples in our showroom.

Why travertine works so well in Florida
Travertine is a natural stone that stays noticeably cooler underfoot than concrete pavers, which matters on an August pool deck. It grips when wet, handles salt and chlorine, and its color runs through the full stone, so wear does not expose a different color underneath.
As pool deck installers we usually set travertine over the concrete deck you already have, with new coping over the pool shell. On patios and lanais we lay it on a compacted base like any paver, most often in the French pattern. See our pattern guide for how that looks.
Tumbled travertine has the most grip; honed has the smoothest look

Travertine or concrete pavers?
Both make a great deck; they just win differently. Travertine is natural stone – every piece unique, noticeably cooler under bare feet, and the look Sarasota’s waterfront homes are known for. Concrete pavers win on color consistency, pattern range and budget, and modern cool-surface blends have closed much of the temperature gap. Salt systems and hard water are kind to both when the deck is sealed on schedule.
The right way to decide is with your feet: we keep travertine and concrete displays side by side in the showroom, and on a Florida afternoon the difference is something you feel in about three seconds. Whichever way you go, the coping, drainage and base work are ours end to end, with the same 1-year workmanship warranty.
Travertine questions
If your question is not here, call us and we will answer it.
Is travertine more expensive than concrete pavers?
Usually yes, per square foot. It is a quarried natural stone rather than a manufactured paver. Many owners split the difference: travertine on the pool deck where bare feet live, concrete pavers on the driveway.
Does travertine need sealing?
We recommend a penetrating matte sealer. It protects against staining without adding shine or slickness. Like any paver surface in Florida, plan on resealing every 2 to 3 years.
Can you install travertine over my existing pool deck?
In most cases, yes. If the concrete deck is sound we set travertine over it with new coping, which avoids demolition. If it is not sound we will tell you and price both routes.
